On Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 7:30 PM The September Concert Foundation will present a program of music in St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, a program which will be open to the public and free of charge. The featured work on the program will be Leonard Bernstein’s uplifting Chichester Psalms performed by a chorus of 120 voices drawn from the choral community in New York City. Jack Goodwin will conduct the version scored for organ, harp and percussion, David Ralph will play the organ, Susan Jolles will play harp, and Greg Landes will play percussion.
The goal of The September Concert Foundation is to fill the skies with music on September 11th each year, to remember, to bring communities together, to celebrate life, to reaffirm a hope for peace and to honor universal humanity. The program has grown steadily since its inception in 2002. The 2004 event included over 100 concerts and 890 musicians around New York City in parks, bookstores, restaurants and other public spaces. September Concerts have also been held in Colorado, Florida, Tennessee and Japan. All September Concerts are free and open to the public. Venues are donated and musicians perform for free.
