COMPUTER RECYCLING EVENT IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY
Everyday is Earth Day, that is why you kept that old computer and other electronics stashed in the closet, but Sunday, April 23rd, 2006 you will be able to drop off the goods for recycling at the Lower East Side Ecology Center’s 3rd annual Computer and Electronics Recycling Day at Union Square Park – North Plaza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The following will be accepted: working and non-working computers, monitors, TVs, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, and cell phones.

While electronic devices are safe to use in the home or office, they do pose an environmental risk when improperly discarded. Computers, monitors, TV’s and printers have cathode ray tubes, circuit boards, or other electronic components that contain hazardous materials, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, which can pollute our air and water when discarded with household trash.
