Starting this Monday, The Grace Lee Project will be screened on the Sundance Channel:
When Korean-American filmmaker Grace Lee moved to California, she discovered her name had transformed her into a stereotype. For many, the name “Grace Lee” instantly conjured up a dutiful, studious and polite Asian-American overachiever. In this witty documentary, Lee presents a very personal consideration of cultural assimilation and the oppressive burden of stereotypes. In the process she tracks down countless other Grace Lees around the world, hoping to find a bad girl who disproves the pervasive fictional persona.
No, I’m not in it, but I am linked from her web site. ;-D
